Worlebury Golf Club Location: Somerset Celebrating it's Centenary in 2008, Worlebury Golf Club was founded by Henry Butt, a local philanthropist, with a group of like minded prominent businessmen. Though initially for their own enjoyment, they kindly donated their shares, making it into a Members Club in 1972. It is now one of a few Golf Clubs in the area that owns its own course and clubhouse. Situated on Worlebury hill, it lies between the M5 junction 21 (2 miles away) and the seaside town of Weston super Mare. Its location affords stunning views overlooking the Severn Estuary, Wales and The Mendips. At the far end of the course is the old Observatory which was converted from a Windmill in the 1870’s. The course was one of a number designed by Harry Vardon (winner of 7 major championships) and his brother Alfred, who was the club professional for 16 years. The well manicured 5850 yard par 70 parkland course flows through several, slightly undulating, walled and tree lined fields. It has an excellent mix of holes providing a challenge to the lower handicapper, without intimidating the less proficient golfer. Good course management skills will be needed to assure a respectable score, which is reflected in the present course record of 66. Wrangaton Golf Club Location: Devon Our course is unique - 9 moorland and 9 parkland holes. It is very much a course of two halves and there is nothing else like it in Devon! Wrangaton started in 1895 when a 9 hole golf course was established on the southern slopes of Dartmoor. An additional 9 holes were added in 1988, and Donald Steel, designer of the world famous Loch Lomond golf course, laid out these parkland holes. We are a members club - run by the members for the members. We have a friendly clubhouse serving good food and local beers, which members enjoy and visitors are welcome to sample. The panoramic view from the conservatory restaurant across the South Hams countryside to the sea is beautiful and should not be missed. Visitors enjoy the peace, tranquillity and wonderful views from the course as well as some challenging golf and New Members are always most welcome. Yeovil Golf Club Location: Somerset Both courses are set in beautiful countryside on the western edge of Yeovil, with the Old Course in Dorset and the Newton Course in Somerset. Facilities include a 20 bay driving range and a well stocked professionals shop. Tee times bookable online. On the eastern edge of town on the main A30, Yeovil Golf Club offers spectacular views with the superb 18 Hole Old Course and the 9 Hole Newton Golf Courses. Both courses are superbly presented and provide a golfing challenge and individual character. For those not so proficient the courses do nothing to discourage the beginner.
